President J. D. W. MacIean Chairman John Evans Vice Chairman Roger Morris Treasurer Brian Crockett Secretary Steve Jones Assistant Secretary Trevor Jones The 2007 season was the worst on record weather-wise. However, only three weekend programmes were totally washed out by bad weather. The sponsors were again Andrew James Knox Ltd and Readers Balls and the South Wales Cricket Association is grateful for their continued support. The Division One Championship was won by Pontarddulais, the Dan Radcliffe Cup being awarded to them in their first season following promotion from division two. The runners up were Gowerton and relegated were Ynystawe & Mumbles. Promoted from Division Two were Llangennech (Champions) & Llanelli with Pontyberem & Gorseinon relegated. Promoted from Division Three were Carmarthen Wanderers (Champions) & BS Port Talbot with Ffynone & Swansea Civil Service relegated. Promoted from Division Four were Pwll (Champions) & Hills Plymouth with Winch Wen and Llandysul relegated. Promoted from Division Five were Llandeilo (Champions) & Llandarcy. The Second XI Championships were won by: Division One – Swansea; Division Two – Llangennech; Division Three – BS Port Talbot; Division Four – Baglan and Division Five – Felinfoel. The Andrew James Knox KO Cup Competition was won by Swansea with Llangennech being the runners up. Owen Venables of Swansea was ‘Man of the Match’. The Division One best batting and bowling awards went to:
Mel Williams (Briton Ferry Steel) – 667 Runs Stuart Phelps (Port Talbot Town) – 38 Wickets
The South Wales Cricket Association did not play any representative matches during the 2007 season due to the poor weather conditions.
We are sad to say goodbye to DVLA Mond, Ffynone & Seaside who are no longer able to raise Second XI’s, which is a condition of membership of the South Wales Cricket Association. To compensate for the loss of these clubs, divisions four and five have been restructured and will consist of eight clubs in each division. Four vacancies therefore exist and interested Clubs should contact the Secretary before 31st July. For more information on the South Wales Cricket Association, please visit our Website |
